and schema

oracle database is the total files set(control files , system data file , sysaux datafile , archive redo log
files , redo log files , undo data file , temp data file  and other application and data and index files).

oracle instance is the portion occupied by oracle in memory.so the SGA part is called the instance.

schema is another name for a user in oracle. the only difference between a schema and a user is , a
schema is where all the tables , views , procedures ,packages , triggers and other database objects
are created. A user on the other hand is the one who is connecting to the database and accesses
these tables and other database objects as per the privileges granted to him by the dba.
