Frequently Asked Questions

Below find answers to the most frequently asked questions about Database certification information.

  1) When will 11.2 be certified on my platform?

11.2 is certified when released on a platform.  See Release Schedule for Current Database Releases (Doc ID 742060.1) for the dates of 11.2 releases on different platforms.

  2) Which Database server versions can I connect to and which Database client versions can interoperate with the 11.2 server?

In general, 11.2 can interoperate with Database releases 9.2 and later, but there are some exception and special conditions. One notable exception is that the 11.2 client is not supported to connect to a 10.1 database. See Client / Server Interoperability Support Between Different Oracle Versions (Doc ID 207303.1) for complete information.

The 11.2 client (32-bit and x86-64) version supports Windows 2008 R2.

  3) Will 11.2 be certified with Windows 7 and Windows 2008?

11.2 is supported on Windows 7, Windows 2008, and Windows 2008 R2. For more complete details, Search on the Certifications page for Database 11.2 on any Windows version and view the “Platform Note”.  Also see Statement of Direction Oracle Database 11g Release 2 – Microsoft Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 (Doc ID 867040.1).

  4) When will Oracle E-Business Suite be certified to run with 11.2?

Oracle E-Business Suite releases 11.5.10 and R12 have already been certified to run with 11.2.  For the most up-to-date and official list of E-Business Suite versions certified with Database 11.2 see the Certifications tab on My Oracle Support.

  5) Why can’t I find Database 11g Release 2 certification information for some platforms?

You are probably looking for information about a platform port that has not yet been released.  Until 11.2 is released on a platform we may not post any certification information, because it may change slightly with final testing.
